We've already made it to TWENTY (20) book reviews!!! YAEY! Children's books are beautiful pathways, adventurous excursions, and unpredictable adventures into a boundless WORLD of valuable, exciting, and priceless…brilliance! Children’s stories are creative presentations into the many minds of wonderfully artistic authors and illustrators. Story books offer so much for all ages to engage in that it’s hard to choose what our favorite book could possibly be. Because we truly enjoy burrowing into great reads, we thought we’d share our ongoing list of all-time favorite children’s books (and a few others) that we simply KNOW you’ll enjoy, too. Here’s a compilation of the first 20 books to be highlighted and presented in our “Book of the Week” series. ENJOY! :) Our book of the week is... "Amazing Grace" by Mary Hoffman (author), Caroline Binch (illustrator) If you’ve not yet been introduced to “Grace,” our fearless little friend, then allow us to extend your official introduction here and now. Grace is beautiful, intuitive, caring, energetic, enthusiastic, and thoroughly enjoys her own grand-range of imagination. She has an innate ability and desire to perform, entertain, all in the boundless depths of her mind (and her home). And Grace has “graced us” with her presence in many books, via several characters, in several plots, and by a few different illustrators, but all by one genius of one author, Mary Hoffman herself. “Amazing Grace” is a PHENOMENAL book, and for many reasons… Our book of the week is... "By a Blazing Blue Sea" by S. T. Garne (author), Lori Lohstoeter (illustrator) The very first two pages contain no words, and are painted with a big, beautiful, bright, colorful, happy parrot, flying over a gorgeous island beach. He’s also flying in the direction of the next page as an indication for the reader to head on over there to find out more. Then you’ll read, “Below sweeping green hills, On a crescent of land, Between craggy black rocks, Lies a white strip of land.” Instantly, I’m hooked! But there is SO MUCH MORE to love about this wonderful book! We’ll give you four (4) solid reasons we love this book! Our book of the week is... “My Lucky Day” by Keiko Kasza (author and illustrator) The sly ole fox is at home sharpening his claws in preparation for his dinner-hunt when a “delicious-looking piglet” shows up at his front door! “How often does dinner come knocking on the door?” The fox thought, “this must be my lucky day!” Or IS it? |
