Our books of the week are... "Father's Day Five Favorite Books!" by various authors and illustrators Looking for a few great books that Dads will love and enjoy reading with the kids? We have collected a few of our favorites that our Dads love and read over and over again. Not all of them are about dads, but something about the characters reminds us of the many guys we know and love. Enjoy! :) Our book of the week is... "What Your Kindergartner Needs to Know" (The Core Knowledge Series) Edited by E. D. Hirsche, Jr. When we first realized and decided that we would homeschool our child, we dove in full-body into an ice-cold, seemingly bottomless pond... alone. We had only heard of the term “home school” or “homeschooling,” but weren’t quite sure what it meant or consisted of. We searched library books on “what homeschool is,” wikihow on “how to homeschool,” various magazine articles, websites, friends who were familiar with homeschooling, and anyone or anything we could find that would remotely make sense. I stumbled upon this book series and can NOT imagine the first 6 grades of our successful homeschool journey without it! Our book of the week is... "Llama Llama Red Pajama" by Anna Dewdney (author and illustrator) Anna Dewdney’s “Llama Llama” series is one of our absolute most favorite children’s book series EVER! Dewdney proved to be superbly talented in both writing, rhyming, and illustrating each and every one of the Llama Llama books. If you have not experienced Llama Llama, begin IMMEDIATELY and you’re guaranteed to be hooked. Here's why WE LOVE LLAMA LLAMA!!! Our book of the week is... “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” by Mo Willems (author and illustrator) What a cute little character “Pigeon” is in this series. He’s a cute, clever buddy who’s been left in charge of the bus during the bus driver’s momentary break. Boy does Pigeon beg and plead with the readers, trying several times and several ways to coax children into granting his request. |
