Our book of the week is... “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!” by Mo Willems (author and illustrator) What a cute little character “Pigeon” is in this series. He’s a cute, clever buddy who’s been left in charge of the bus during the bus driver’s momentary break. Boy does Pigeon beg and plead with the readers, trying several times and several ways to coax children into granting his request. What makes this book so precious is Mo Willems’ ability to present a fun, engaging book with only a few yet purposeful and specific words, making it perfect for beginning readers. The text is large enough and properly spaced to give younger readers great assistance in gliding from word to word, taking time to study pronunciation and diction. And the story is so inviting that children will enjoy reading the “Pigeon” books over and over.
We highly recommend this and all of Willems' "Pigeon" books for anyone who's interested in reading quick, straight-to-the-point, cute and fun adventures. We also recommend them for early readers because all that's presented in each books is perfectly sized to entertain and keep them engage from beginning to end. If you’d like to add this and several other Mo Willems “Pigeon” books, see the links below. Comments are closed.
