In light of America’s most patriotic holiday just around the corner, we thought we’d share with you some of our red, white, and blue Independence Day fun! Believe me, this isn’t your regular, typical, lactose-lined smoothie. This particular smoothie is as originally plain and SIMPLE as possible, and my homeschooler LOVES it mostly because he can have as much fruit and ice (and maybe juice) as he desires. Here’s how we do it. Using our “Hamilton Beach 14-oz Personal Blender with Travel Lid,” we add the following directly into the container. (Actual measurements are all up to you - we add 1/3 of fruit to 1/3 ice)
When the blender container is filled to our satisfaction, we start blending. We chop in quick spurts, with individual increments as to chop and blend the ingredients slowly, until we get the consistency we prefer. My son likes it thick and crunchy with not all the ice completely chopped. THAT IS IT! That is ALL we do. Simple, quick, healthy, easy, delicious, colorful, yummy, and filled with as much fruit and ice (minimal juice) as we prefer. Did I say quick!? The "hardest" part is washing the fruit, maybe. You can always add and/or replace the raspberries with fresh or frozen strawberries. Or, you could even add in mandarin oranges, pineapples, or any other favorite (summer) fruit, though they may not necessarily match the "red, white, blue" theme, but it matters not. Healthy holiday fun TOGETHER is all that matters. Below are a few other "MasterTreats" we've tried and love here at ArtEase!
