“I Already Know I Love You”

9/29/2018

Our book of the week is...

“I Already Know I Love You”
by Billy Crystal, illustrated by Elizabeth Sayles

Today, we’re featuring the third of five books previously featured in our “Father’s Day Book Melange” in June (see here). Written by the famous, renowned, Emmy-award winning comedian and actor, Mr. Billy Crystal himself, in the book “I Already Know I Love You,” Mr. Crystal has outdone himself by providing just as much creativity to this written children’s book masterpiece. He has managed to entertain us all with yet another masterful perspective into the brilliancy that he possesses! There’s SO MUCH to say about this wonderful storybook…

As it is beautifully stated inside the front cover of our book, this book is “based on the author’s own experience… and describes the cavalcade of feelings that comes with being a grandfather for the very first time.” This book is so wonderful because…
  • It offers an intimate look into the heart of a grandfather imagining and anticipating the wonderful arrival of his very first newborn grandchild
  • The soft and dreamy pastel images by illustrator Elizabeth Sayles perfectly complement the warm, tender story about the joy of the expectancy a newborn baby
  • The story is a poem… as in, it RHYMES!
  • The text is minimal, concise, poignant
  • The soft and dreamy pastel drawings/paintings are BEAUTIFULLY BRILLIANT!
  • It paints the picture of a near-perfect, loving relationship between Grandpa & Grandbaby
You MUST grab this book and indulge in the beautiful story that Mr. Crystal managed to capture in words, complimented by capture-esque photos by artist Elizabeth Sayles. Great job, you two (as if I’ve met them and told them so personally)! Haha!

Having these kind of books for children to read will help nurture their minds to be a good person when they grow. It will help them appreciate the presence of Grandparents. I was able to meet my grandparents on my maternal side. They are the sweetest and generous being I ever met. How I wish to be with them for a long period of time, but God already took them away from us.
