![]() Our books of the week are... "Father's Day Five Favorite Books!" by various authors and illustrators Looking for a few great books that Dads will love and enjoy reading with the kids? We have collected a few of our favorites that our Dads love and read over and over again. Not all of them are about dads, but something about the characters reminds us of the many guys we know and love. Enjoy! :) Here are only five (5) of the many books our dads love are: ![]() 1 . “No David!” by David Shannon (author and illustrator) This book is mostly a picture book with few words but clearly depicted stories and imagery. Something about “David” is probably the same internal little boy that still resides (hidden) in most of the dads we know. This book contains strong, bold, creative, effective painted pictures with effectively handwritten text, making this one of our many favorites. ![]() 2. “Disney Pixar Cars: Meet the Cars” (Disney Press) If you and your dads have experienced the Disney Pixar animated phenomenon, “Cars” (1, 2, and 3), then you know why our dads LOVE this “Meet the Cars” book! It’s a full-color, hardback, front-to-back experience that almost matches the beauty of the movies themselves. Every single car that made an appearance in the first movie is introduced and illustrated up close and personal, with details about their background, vehicle type, and story. Superb, and fun! ![]() 3. “Just the Two of Us” by Will Smith, illustrated by Kadir Nelson Dads love this book (written by Grammy winner Will Smith) because (1) the title reminds them of the classic hit from back in the day that went “Just the two of us, we can make it if we try.... Just the two of us, you and I.” (2) the book is also lyrical and poetic like the lyrics of the song. (3) The colored pencil illustrations are phenomenal. (4) It’s a story about a father watching his son grow up over the years, including all the worries and wonders dads experience with/about their children along the way. What’s NOT to like about this beautiful book? ![]() 4. “I Already Know I Love You” by Billy Crystal, illustrated by Elizabeth Sayles As it is beautifully stated in the inside flap of our book, this book is “based on the author’s own experience… and describes the cavalcade of feelings that comes with being a grandfather for the very first time.” Written by the famous, renowned, Emmy-award winning comedian, Mr. Billy Crystal himself, Crystal offers an intimate look into the heart of a grandfather imagining and anticipating the wonderful arrival of his very first newborn grandchild. The soft and dreamy pastel images perfectly complement the warm, tender story about the joy of the expectancy a newborn baby. Oh, dads and granddads remember when… ![]() 5. “I Love Big Cats” by Steve Parker, Illustrated by Ian Jackson Most dads enjoy reading about cats and animals, especially the biggest and fastest cats and animals. This particular book is a “first facts and pictures” book just right for early readers, with facts and information being direct, minimal, and easy to read and follow. The illustrations are realistically beautiful, rich, bold, bright, seem to pop off the page, and are absolutely perfect for the complementary facts. This list is merely a fraction of the many books our dads enjoy reading, and especially enjoy reading to the kiddies. What are some favorite books that the dads in your life enjoy? Please share your thoughts below.
Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderfully fantastic, splendidly phenomenal Dads! Enjoy! :) If you'd like to add any of these books to your collection, check out the links below. Comments are closed.
