"WHAT A FAMILY!"

ArtEase! Book of the Week-
Our book of the week is...

"What a Family!"

by Rachel Isadora (author and illustrator)

WHAT A BOOK! WHAT WONDERFUL ILLUSTRATIONS! What a GREAT concept! You may be wondering what all the rave is about this book, so let us attempt to enlighten you for a spell.

Rachel Isadora, author and illustrator attempts to do several things throughout this book.

  1. She introduces us to the overall concept of "family," and includes many different "titles" of family members throughout the book.
  2. She creates a connection to many different family members all across races and cultures, showing how it seems we are indeed somehow linked and/or related.
  3. She highlights each characters traits and illustrates how they are similar to another family members, thus building upon the threaded connection.
  4. She beautifully illustrates individuality (yet relativity) with each portrait of each character.
  5. She begins the "thread" with the story of "Ollie," thus making it into a somewhat "story" instead of just information about the family tree.
  6. She includes a diagram of the family tree on the inside front and back covers

Rachel Isadora did an exceptionally fantastic job of illustrating and capturing the personalities of each and every person in this book! BEA-U-TI-FUL illustrations! Each person seems to jump off the page, warranting an individual introduction, and asking to begin conversation with the reader, inviting us to wish each person were actually here for us to meet and greet! Simply splendid.

We highly recommend this book! It would make a great collectible for your home library, and definitely deserves to at least get borrowed from your local library. If you would like to collect this book for your home library, click here. Enjoy! :)
