My 5 Daily Thanksgivings!

Being thankful ALL YEAR LONG is something we instill in our son. No matter how disappointing life may sometimes seem, there is ALWAYS, ALWAYS at least SOMETHING to be thankful for. It’s my understanding that repeatedly giving thanks within ourselves creates a natural, thankful, lighter spirit of/within us, which automatically radiates outwardly. By this understanding, it seems appropriate to share ways/things I give thanks in hopes of naturally exuding thankfulness every day. Here are MY top 5 daily thanksgivings.
  1. CONSCIOUSNESS & TIME - the opportunity of awakening again today is worthy of immediate thanksgiving, each and every day! Millions of people die daily. Someone just lost a loved one in this very moment. To be blessed with the gift of being alive merits daily thanksgiving. And with the consciousness of time, I am allowed to CHOOSE to give thanks! I have another opportunity today to better myself. I am blessed with the gift of time to apologize to someone I love, to forgive another, to correct mistakes if possible, to mentally release the mistakes I can not correct, to learn just about anything I want to learn about (including how to be more thankful), the gift of time to try and try again until I get it right, et cetera and so on. Thank you, Dearest Lord, for the gift of awareness and time.

  2. SHELTER - there are many, many homeless souls on our planet. I can’t possibly give sufficient thanks for having shelter and a place to lay my head each night. Despite the things I’d like to upgrade, repaint, remove, or correct here, my house is indeed a home, and it’s comfortable, air conditioned, heated, has indoor plumbing, covered roof, et cetera, et cetera! Thank you, Dear God, for shelter.

  3. FOOD - yes, something as “simple” as a bite to eat is more than some whole communities experience. If only I could save the world, indeed I would. The LEAST I can do is consciously, daily give thanks for every morsel of food that I am able to choose to intake. Thank you, Dear Lord, for the food I am blessed to eat and share.

  4. HEALTH & STRENGTH - I give thanks for the ability to FEEL, even if it feels like a headache, pain, or discomfort. To be able to walk around freely, see the paths I choose to take, hug and hold loved ones, listen to rainfall, taste those “bites to eat,” et cetera and so on is worth more than any extension of thanks I could ever attempt. Thank you, Dear God, for health and strength.

  5. LOVE - The fact that I AM LOVED is worth more than any depth of thankfulness I can extend. To extend love and to know that I am loved at least by some family and  a few friends is priceless, and a wonderful blessing to give many, many thanks for. SOMEONE SOMEWHERE LOVES US! Thank you, Dear God, for the blessing of LOVE!
These are MY top 5 daily thanksgivings! Extended lists, of course, include additional simple, general, and personal items that I actively choose to be consciously thankful for (safety, transportation, knowledge, etc). You don't have to be overly religious or highly spiritual to show and/or give thanks. My hope is that you, too, can find blessings and thanksgiving in your daily do’s.

Feel free to share some of your thanksgivings in the comments section below.

Happy Thanksgiving to each of you, and may God continue to bless you all! Take care.

Sincerely,
DLT
